Founded in 1961, St. Charles Airport (LS40) is a private club and has been home to many aviators. Also known as "Ama Airport" - LS40 is
located 3 nautical miles southwest of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (KMSY). It's 3900' x 125' runway sits on 158
acres of land right off the Mississippi River with a pilot controlled lighting area that consists of 3200' x 90' of the total length and
width of the runway.
Over 30 aircraft are based at Ama, from single engine Cessna's, Cubs', Champs', Mooney's, RV's to light twins. Visitors
are welcome to attend our club meeting on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 PM and are also welcome to fly in upon
permission of club administration. |
